Now more than ever, young people need martial arts. Our Kids Karate Programs demonstrate to children that they are powerful and important by giving them the tools and the practice to grow up strong, speak up for themselves and stay true to their values.
Etiquette
Our curriculum promotes self-control and etiquette, both inside and outside of the dojo. Children are taught to honour themselves, their training partners and the spaces we share with our community. They learn about Japanese martial culture and the deep importance it places on empathy and remaining humble.
Training
We believe that all children have the capacity to be life-long athletes. We teach transferable skills that kids will use throughout their lives, even if they later decide that martial arts aren’t their passion.
Functional, movement-based strength, conditioning and flexibility drills that build physical literacy.
Shotokan kata and Okinawan Ryukyu kobudo weapons including staff, nunchaku, sai and more.
Japanese aiki-jujitsu techniques including grip releases, joint locks and throws.
Modern and practical Seienjuku style full and semi-contact continuous sparring.
Safety
🏳️🌈 Our programs proudly welcome everyone of all backgrounds and walks of life and are a safe space for kids to be who they are.
⛑️ Our instructors are Intermediate First Aid (Standard) and Level C CPR/AED certified by St. John Ambulance and complete Safe Sport Training from the Coaching Association of Canada. An emergency first aid kit is on hand at all practices.

Kids Karate
(Ages 5-9)
Our Kids Karate Program focuses on fun fitness drills that teach physical literacy. Kids gain techniques and abilities in an engaging atmosphere that challenges them to build their ability to focus and demonstrate their commitment to dojo rules.
Kids Karate Students Learn:
Fun and functional fitness focused on building flexibility, proper form and fitness vocabulary.
Foundational martial arts techniques that ingrain physical literacy and movement.
Focus and self-control through a disciplined and respectful training environment.

Youth Karate
(Ages 10-16)
Our Youth Karate Program focuses on building up confidence through the application of challenging techniques, fitness drills and group challenges. Our students work hard together and grow as a team.
Youth Karate Students Learn:
Real, adult-level training, adapted for younger people and shorter attention spans.
Challenging and rewarding fitness drills that quickly grow young people into strong, competitive athletes.
A sense of place in a community that grows together and demonstrates mutual respect and commitment.
